Using Claude to Better Understand your Linkedin Network

How to make that mundane "connections" spreadsheet come alive...

Share

If you’ve been building a network on LinkedIn for a while, you know the pain.

You’re connected to hundreds, maybe thousands of people…

But figuring out who they are, what industries they’re in, how many are founders, execs, marketers, investors?

Damn near impossible.

LinkedIn gives you the Rolodex.

But not the readout.

Yesterday, I saw this post from Lani Assaf, who leads brand and comms at Anthropic (the folks behind Claude).

She exported a CSV of her LinkedIn connections and asked Claude:

“What patterns do you see in my professional network?”

Boom. Just like that, she got a detailed breakdown of her people.

Who they were. What they did. Where the clusters were.

Simple prompt. Big insight.

Why this is such a powerful move:

We’re living in a time where AI can make our invisible networks visible.

We just need to start asking better questions.

Upload your LinkedIn connections CSV to Claude (or ChatGPT if you prefer), and try prompts like:

  • “What professional roles show up most often in this list?”
  • “Which industries are most common across my connections?”
  • “Do you see any interesting clusters or gaps I should explore?”
  • “How might I segment this network into useful categories?”

This is a killer way to:

  • Spot opportunities
  • Refine your ICP
  • Build smarter content
  • Engage more intentionally

And the best part?

It’s YOUR data. You’ve already earned these connections.

Now it’s time to actually learn from them.

For example:

You can download your LinkedIn connections here:

Pick the Connections CSV, upload to Claude, and let the questions fly.

This might be the most valuable 15-minute AI experiment you run all week.

Want help with the prompts? Just ask! 👀

Until then: get curious, get creative, and get to know your network.
