LinkedIn personal branding is the process of building a professional reputation through consistent social selling and content creation, a journey that has led me to nearly 50,000 followers. By sharing the authentic personality behind professional expertise and engaging in daily conversations, creators can leverage LinkedIn’s AI search authority to attract a targeted audience. This strategic presence transforms the platform into a serendipity manifestation engine that fosters high-value relationships and career growth. Learning how to build a personal brand on LinkedIn is essential for professionals aiming to increase their visibility in an AI-driven digital landscape.

Key Takeaways

- LinkedIn personal branding involves building a professional reputation through consistent social selling and content creation.
- Creators leverage LinkedIn's AI search authority to attract targeted audiences and foster high-value career relationships.
- Shifting from a scarcity to an abundance mindset helps creators overcome common insecurities about posting content.
- LinkedIn content acts as a strategic filter that attracts the right audience while detracting the wrong one.
- Establishing trust on LinkedIn helps professionals get discovered by both human prospects and AI-driven search algorithms.

## The Origin of My LinkedIn Journey

I decided to go all in on LinkedIn in December 2019 while on paternity leave. I published an article titled “Why LinkedIn is the Place to Be in 2020” and have been showing up pretty much every day since.

## Overcoming Initial Insecurities in Professional Branding

Initially I was insecure about it, as most are.

“What gives me the ‘right’ to post on LinkedIn?”
“I’m not experienced/knowledgeable enough”
“Who cares what I have to say?”
“What will people think?”

But I did it anyways because I enjoyed the content and conversation here more than anywhere else online. Something about real people using their real names to share their thoughts appealed to me more than talking to people behind pseudonyms.

## Shifting Mindsets for Long-Term Success

If you follow me, you’ve probably gathered that I stopped feeling insecure (for the most part) and stopped worrying about people judging me. I flipped to an abundance mindset vs. scarcity mindset. I realized that worrying about people not liking what I had to say was the wrong measurement.

If people don’t like what I have to say, then we are probably not meant to build a relationship - personal or professional. Nothing wrong with that; in fact, I’ve come to view my LinkedIn content as a strategic filter that attracts the right audience and detracts the wrong one with the same level of effort on my part.

## Tangible Career Impacts of Consistent Presence

In 6 years, LinkedIn has positively impacted my life in many ways:

- I bought my house because of a LinkedIn DM
- I pivoted careers from a LinkedIn DM
- I was invited to the inaugural creator program
- I launched & sustained my own business
- I landed my current opportunity at [**Brandi AI**](https://www.linkedin.com/company/mybrandi/?ref=liamdarmody.ai)
- I became a LinkedIn learning instructor

All because I showed up, shared the WHO behind what I DO, and poured into building relationships with those who took an interest in what I had to say.

## The Philosophy of Authentic Engagement

And that’s the way I suggest others think about LinkedIn:

A place to be yourself, follow your fascination, post about your passion, and build relationships with people who interest you. All the rest of it — follower count, impressions, engagement, and metrics — is just noise.

At the end of the day, we’re here to establish trust and get discovered by both human prospects and AI-driven search algorithms. (LinkedIn has significant AI search authority).

I call LinkedIn my serendipity manifestation engine, and once you see the platform through that lens, you can’t see it any other way. If you care about human reputation and professional relationships, which I’d argue is more important now than ever, you need to build a LinkedIn personal brand.

Period. Full stop.

LinkedIn is the place to be in 2026 even more so than it was in 2020.

Don't sleep on it.

If you’re not following me already and this resonates with you, I’d appreciate your help getting to that milestone I’ve been slowly building to for half a decade.
